Matt,

The elementary Spanish program has evolved into a wonderful learning experience for both students and teacher. During the past several weeks, I have used the remaining thirty minutes of my language arts block and replaced English with Spanish. The students have welcomed the change with open minds. We have also transformed our reading journals into Spanish journals.

The finest part of the elementary Spanish program is the audio component. Without it, the lessons would not be as beneficial or educational for the students. The students are extremely engaged as they anticipate the pronunciation of each word. In addition, through a special connection from my computer to a television screen, I am able to display various designs that resemble sound waves via media player. When the Spanish words are spoken, the designs move or “vibrate” in syllabic patterns. The students can see and hear the accents and syllables.

In addition to the audio piece, the illustrations which accompany all the lessons make the program even more user-friendly and inviting for the students. The personification technique that the artist has used throughout the lessons has provided a deeper comprehension connection for the students.

Finally, due to the variance of activities from coloring, to the matching card game, to criss-cross puzzles and word searches, there is something for all abilities in my classroom. Everyone is learning Spanish at his or her own level including their teacher. My only regret is that I did not start this program at the beginning of the school year. I can only imagine where my kids would be now if I had.

Atentamente,
